What are the social determinants of health?

The social determinants of health (SDoHs) are the personal, social, economic, and environmental conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work, and age.

These circumstances are defined by the unequal distribution of power, money and resources at the local, national and international levels. Therefore, they significantly impact people's access to healthcare and quality of life.

Sociants adopted 13 SDoHs that were identified by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS):
